What we get asked the most:

Check in is 3:00 pm and check out is at 11:00 am. We will do our best to accommodate early check in and late check out requests, but cannot guarantee them. 

A delicious, made-to-order breakfast is included in your room rate, and available daily from 7:30 to 10:30 (brunch on Sundays goes until 12:30 pm). You are encouraged to take advantage of our shared guest spaces: lobby, wrap around porches, lawn and firepit areas, restaurant, and Lookout room with puzzles, books, games, water, coffee, microwave and refrigerator. Our staff is ready to assist you with recommendations on dining and local activities. There is a ChargePoint EV charging station for guests who wish to charge electric vehicles during their stay.

Room #20 is our only room the first floor. It is accessible by ramp and is ADA compliant. The majority of our rooms are located on the second and third floors and unfortunately there is not an elevator. Staff is available to assist with carrying luggage. 

Dogs are welcome in rooms #20, #21, #22, #23, #24, #25, #26, #27, #28 and #29 of the Captain's House. One or two pets weighing less than 75 pounds total are allowed per room. Pets are not allowed in shared indoor areas or guest rooms in the Sail Loft. Dogs are welcome on the porches and outdoor eating areas on a leash. There is a $50 pet charge per stay, and a $100 deposit is collected at check in. 

The Sail Loft building (where sails were made as early as 1860), is where the lobby, restaurant, and rooms/suites #1-8 are located. It faces the harbor and lobster dock. The Captain's House (former residence of Captain Giles and formerly known as the Meeting House) is next to the harbor, and houses the Lookout Room and accommodations #20-30; including a room on the first floor, economy and pet-friendly rooms, deluxe suites, and the apartment with a private balcony.

All rooms are subject to Maine's 9% lodging tax. Some rooms can accommodate a rollaway bed/extra person for an additional nightly $35 charge ($20 for a child). If you are staying in one of our pet-friendly rooms and bringing a dog, there is a $50 fee per reservation. 

Yes, a 50% deposit is required and applied upon booking a room or suite. For reservations of one night only, the full amount is collected.

To receive a refund of your deposit (less a $45 service fee), we require at least a 14-day notice before your first night stay. Within 14 days of your reservation, your deposit becomes non-refundable and bookings may not be reduced or modified. As a small, seasonable business, we are significantly affected by cancellations and appreciate your understanding.

A non-smoking policy is strictly enforced on the property. The East Wind does not permit smoking of any kind in the guest rooms, indoor public areas, or on the porches; there are two designated outdoor locations for smoking. Violators of this policy are subject to a $250 fine. Candle and incense use is prohibited on the property.
